- Abstract
This overview of dating music publications looks at music manuscript and music prints. The first part describes problems of dating problems for manuscripts, particularly those from German-speaking area the eighteenth and early nineteenth century. The second section looks at the problems of dating printed music, especially in the late eighteenth and nineteenth century. Useful reference works, such as the important publications by D. W. Krummel and Dan Fog are discussed. Both publications describe methods how to date undated music prints. Other publications are mentioned as examples for helpful types of reference works on dating music.
