- Authors

- Abstract
The article reports on a study conducted in the U.S. which examines the potential health risks of fleas and Bartonella henselae (B. henselae) for cats and humans. It states that fleas and blood from cats were assessed in a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay which reveals that the prevalence rate for B. henselae in cats was 34.8% and 22.8% in the fleas. It shows that B. henselae causes cat scratch disease (CSD) characterized by lymphadenophathy and other diseases like osteomyelitis.
