- Abstract
This article discusses the role of epigenetic modifications in tumorigenesis, specifically in urothelial bladder cancer. The study evaluated the methylation status of certain DNA regions and identified a highly methylated marker that was associated with worse progression-free survival and overall survival. The article also mentions the potential clinical use of urine DNA methylation assays for early detection and recurrence monitoring of bladder cancer. Additionally, it highlights ongoing clinical trials exploring the therapeutic possibilities of epigenetic-targeted therapies in bladder cancer.
