- Abstract
Muir-Torre syndrome (MTS) is an autosomal dominant cancer syndrome that is a phenotypic variant of hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal carcinoma (HNPCC), or Lynch syndrome. Arch Dermatol Res. 2021; 313: 391 - 430. doi: 10.1007/s00403-020-02152-4 3 Graefe T, Wollina U, Schulz H, Burgdorf W. Muir-Torre syndrome - treatment with isotretinoin and interferon alpha-2a can prevent tumour development. Importantly, though, isotretinoin has shown efficacy in the treatment of sebaceous neoplasms associated with MTS, in addition to its well-documented effect on preventing KAs.2 Herein, we review the literature on the use of isotretinoin in MTS and suggest that isotretinoin chemoprophylaxis may represent a novel therapeutic paradigm in MTS.
