- Abstract
The integrative community therapy is a soft low cost technology that has been developed in several counties in Brazil. This study it tells the experience of the Communitarian Therapy in João Pessoa/PB, the different contexts and involved population groups, as well as the main problems and the used strategies of confrontation. The participants of this research are people who undertook this therapy from September, 2008, to July, 2009. The data were collected through information sheets as well as through an ethnographic diary. As a result of this study, we realized that the therapy occurs in different contexts and with distinct population groups, like: children, adolescents, women, elderly people, those who have mental disorders as well as their relatives and besides those professionals that take part in the family health team. In sum, it can be said that the therapy is an important tool work to help groups from different contexts and that, it has been encouraging the consolidation of the model of the communitarian attention emphasized by the SUS.
