- Abstract
A series of novel yellowish-green-emitting K1+ xBa1−2 xTb xBP2O8 (0.02 ≤ x ≤ 0.15) phosphors were first synthesized by a high-temperature solid-state reaction method, and their phase purity as well as photoluminescence properties were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and fluorescence spectroscopy (FS) measurements, respectively. The influence of the doping concentration of Tb3+ on its relative emission intensity and decay behavior was systematically investigated. The critical distance as well as the concentration-quenching mechanism was calculated and confirmed. The as-prepared phosphor can be excited effectively with a 370 nm light, and exhibit yellowish-green emission with a short decay time of the order of millisecond. The above work indicates this phosphor could be a potential candidate as a yellowish-green-emitting phosphor for application in white-light-emitting diodes.
