- Abstract
The article discusses the scientific evidence of systemic abnormalities in haemophilia which cannot be easily attributed to bleeding or blood transfusion-transmitted infections, which include reduced bone mineral density (BMD), delayed growth and sexual development, and hypertension. It notes various reports of reduced BMD in male hemophiliac due to destruction of the joints, periods of symptomatic musculoskeletal bleeding and lifestyle limitations. Also discussed is moyamoya disease.
