- Abstract
Assisted reproductive technologies (ART), such as in vitro fertilization (IVF), have become increasingly popular and have allowed individuals and couples struggling with infertility to have children. However, there have been concerns about the long-term cardiovascular health of individuals who undergo ART. Two recent studies have examined the risk of stroke in individuals who have undergone ART. One study conducted in the United States found a possible increased risk of stroke, while another study conducted in Nordic countries found no increased risk. It is important to consider other factors, such as maternal predisposition and hypertensive disorders, when counseling individuals about the potential risks of ART. Overall, stroke is a rare event, and individuals undergoing ART should be monitored for complications and have their vascular risk factors controlled.
