- Title
Lukas G. Grzybowski. The Christianization of Scandinavia in the Viking Era. Religious Change in Adam of Bremen's Historical Work.
- Authors
Katona, Csete
- Abstract
The relatively short book (120 pages in total) comprises four linearly organized thematic chapters, each discussing a theme central to Adam's style of writing the history of the archdiocese of Hamburg-Bremen. The chapter focuses on Adam's portrayal of the importance of Hamburg-Bremen and its representatives in the "mission" of converting non-Christians. In the fourth chapter, "Christianization, Ethics and Identities" (pp. 89-106), Grzybowski points out inconsistencies in Adam's representation of characters or people that, at first glance, do not align with his logic.
