- Abstract
The up-and-coming web services, which are not specialized in e-learning, but have the potential to become far more personal, social and flexible, are a significant part of the current web development stages. The traditional approach to e-learning has been to employ the use of a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), software that is often cumbersome and expensive - and which tends to be structured around courses, timetables, and testing. That is an approach that is too often driven by the needs of the institution rather than the individual learner. In this article we discuss the concept of blogs and their utilization in the Asynchronous online learning form of e-learning education. We have also given a list of the literature references used, a throrough analysis of the results, and we have also compared the distinct characteristics of the blog, when using different types of softwares. We have also discussed the features of the free blogging software.
