- Abstract
Female internal genital tractus demonstrates a morphological evolution, depending on hormonal oestrogenic impregnation. In adolescent population, pelvic ultrasound aims to measure the length of the uterus, which is the main marker to forecast the puberty. Concerning the chronic pelvic pain, pelvic ultrasound should be realized in first step, in order to rule out obstructive mullerian malformation and/or adnexal mass. According to the evolution of the symptomatology, endometriosis could be suspected. As pelvic ultrasound remains insufficient for the diagnosis of endometriosis, often due to restricted trans-abdominal procedure, MRI could be useful in order to improve diagnosis accuracy of deep endometriosis, endometrioma and haemorrhagic foci of superficial endometriosis.
