- Abstract
The article discusses how the World War II economy in Germany permitted a number of technological innovations. The engineer Robert von Halász kept a documentary record of his new developments in concrete engineering through a series of photographic images taken in 1944. Halász later used some of those photographs to illustrate his engineering textbook. Not until the first decade of the 20th century was it noticed that the pictures depicted female forced laborers, implicating Halász in responsibility for such war crimes.
