- Abstract
The present study focuses on the Below Poverty Line (BPL) families in Aonla Tehsil of the Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh. This study is based on a survey conducted by the researcher with the objective of ascertaining the housing characteristics, income-consumption patterns, awareness as well as benefits received from the selected anti-poverty programmes related to the BPL families. The empirical study reveals that the average household income per month is less than the average household expenditure per month; more than two-third of the household expenditure is on food; and most of the respondents were aware of the selected poverty alleviation programmes but, they failed to avail benefits from them.
