- Abstract
The article examines the issues regarding the shortage of funds for Canadian athletes during special events. The author expresses that the athletes were not given full support that they need to excel against the best athletes in the world. He argues that the reduction of funds in 1990s affects the performance of the athletes compared to their success in the 1960 Summer Olympics. He adds that the country is behind against Australia and Great Britain in terms of competitiveness. It suggests sports organizations, corporate sponsors and educational system in providing top-level training and competition.
