- Abstract
The article discusses issues surrounding the proposed cut to Great Britain's science budget. According to Adam Roberts, president of the British Academy, these cuts could endanger the achievements that the sector has built up for years. On the other hand, John Browne, president of the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng) advocated funding for research with a return in the short to medium term, which favored engineering over science, and claimed that particle physics had limited return on investment.
