Kashagan consortium shuffled.
- Abstract
The article reports that a consortium of Eni, Shell, Total, ExxonMobil, ConocoPhillips and Inpex, which have been developing Kazakhstan's Kahagan oilfield, has given up part of its stake to KazMunaiGaz (KMG) following disputes on compensation for cost overruns and failed production deadlines. The agreement states that KMG will double its stake to 16.8% and KMG will pay $1.7 billion to compensate the other developers. According to the article, the consortium is satisfied with the agreement and says they are now working on a strengthened operating model.
