- Abstract
The article offers information on the Hindustani language created by John Borthwick Gilchrist. It explores Gilchrist's creation and campaign for the use of the Hindustani language which started in 1970. It also reports on the interest of the Pakistan's state officials on Hindustani by 1800 where British scholars, missionaries, and military officers started publishing Hindustani literature. It also discusses the declining use of Hindustani by the start of World War I.
