- Abstract
An essay is presented that examines ideas by filmmaker and activist Derek Jarman on the tragedy of English dramatist Christopher Marlowe from his younger days at King's College London through the film adaptation of the Marlowe's play "Edward II," directed by Jarman. Topics discussed include the complexity of Jarman's scripts, his ideas on how the play could be adapted to the screen as a gay love affair, and Jarman's emphasis on the muscular male body in history.
