- Abstract
Jealousy and intimate partner violence are a phenomenon that need to be better understood, especially regarding repercussions on mental health. The present study aimed to measure the association between jealousy, intimate partner violence and mental health (anxiety, depression, and stress). A total of 194 people participated, 151 women and 43 men, aged 19 to 58 years, married or in a stable relationship. The instruments were: sociodemographic questionnaire, Revised Conflict Tactics Scale, Interpersonal Jealousy Scale, Romantic Jealousy Inventory and Anxiety, Depression and Stress Scale. A high prevalence of violence was found, reaching 85.4% of men who admit to committing psychological aggression in their relationship. There is a higher prevalence of jealousy, marital violence and mental illness in people with lower education and income, without an official union and without children. It is important that these factors are observed as risk factors for the occurrence of conjugal violence and its repercussions.
