The article focuses on the different sets of DNA screening standards proposed by gene-synthesis competing companies, DNA 2.0 Inc. and Geneart GmbH, in 2009. One has viewed that the companies idea is a kind of lowest-common-denominator since they simply taking a list of genes, performing a Basic Local Alignment Search Tool (BLAST), against them. However, DNA 2.0 argued that human screening is not perfect, thus there is no way to standardize it.
