- Title
China: The prizes and pitfalls of progress.
- Authors
Xue, Lan
- Abstract
The author discusses the advantages and disadvantages of progress in China as a developing country. He points out that the rapid ascent of China as a broker and its speedy growth in research and development spending do not guarantee a place as an innovation leader. He also points out that globalized science should not threaten local innovations. The author suggests that the country must set agendas to allocate their resources evenly to address both local and foreign endeavors and to make special efforts to differentiate domestic and international research.
