- Abstract
This article presents an interview with Alison Mills, the author of "Francisco," an autobiographical novel about a young black woman's disillusionment with her early success as an actress in Hollywood; her emerging interest in the 1970s Black Arts Movement; and her love affair with an independent black filmmaker. Topics discussed include: her family background; parents Theodore Mills and Margaret Anne Cyrus Mills; her mother as a writer and reader; how she got started in acting; recreational sex practiced by actors and actresses with the directors, producers and everybody; participation in theater in New York; and Francisco Newman, her husband.
