Uncertainty in Hormone Monitoring of Transgender and Non-Binary People.
- Authors
Greene, Dina N; Goldstein, Zil; Krasowski, Matthew D
- Abstract
The article explores the challenges surrounding hormone monitoring for transgender and non-binary individuals. It points out that current guidelines lack sufficient references and fail to provide clear instructions on which assay to use. The article presents a study that examines the effectiveness of a commonly used immunoassay for hormone measurements in this population. While the study suggests that the immunoassay is generally reliable, it acknowledges the need for more precise measurements in certain cases. The article also discusses the limitations of current therapeutic ranges for hormone concentrations and emphasizes the importance of further research in this area.
