- Abstract
A friend of Gabriele Rossetti, who died in exile in London, Campana wished to outline the story of Italy through the pieces of his own collection. Atti dei convegni internazionali "La tradizione etrusca e il collezionismo in Europa dal XVI al XIX secolo", Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa, 2014-2016: Edited by Ilaria Bianchi and Giulio Paolucci. S. Sarti and M. Benucci (89-105) analyze Giovanni Pietro Campana and show how his activity as collector was intertwined with his political views. V. Saladino initially identified the statuette, currently in the collections of the Archaeological Museum of Florence, as the statuette from Pistoia offered to Lorenzo the Magnificent (V. Saladino, "Una Venere "etrusca" delle collezioni medicee ed il mito esiodeo della sua nascita", in S. Bruni, ed., I Etruria e Italia preromana.
