- Abstract
The article discusses the properties and aesthetic value of Japanese-language songs. It is explained that Japanese songs should be introduced to voice students in the U.S. because of its unique aesthetic qualities characterized by simplicity and suggestion. Poetic forms of these songs have inspired the compositions of many different genres in Japan and in the Western countries making it reasonable to introduce it to students. Japanese songs are notable for their reflections of beauty, brevity and structure, and it will also expose students to the Japanese language.
