An essay is presented on the Czechoslovak Communist Party's 1950 decision to abolish the Greek Catholic Church and the reinstatement of Eastern Rite Catholic Church during the 1968 Prague Spring. Topics include the underlying problems why the Eastern Rite Catholics are being targeted by the Communists, the liquidation of Greek Catholicism in Slovakia and the planned transfer of the Eastern Rite Catholics to the Orthodox Church, and the impact of eastern Slovakia on the 1968 Prague Spring.
