- Abstract
Progress through sustainable practices of agriculture and industrial growth has been the desired objective in many countries around the world. However, progress through sustainability has eluded majority of humans. While some areas of development have been positive, many present day advances has given rise to problems that are in hindsight very painful. Peace is another commodity that has eluded most people in today's world. All this goes to show that something deep is lacking in our worldview today. Unless there is a fundamental shift in our vision, we may not be able to achieve these desired goals. Many new problems are raising their hideous heads in the social and psychological fabric of the nations of the world. The new vision should include the wisdom of our ancients who have dealt with these problems in effective ways. A knowledge-based society, with the right type of knowledge, could overcome many of the problems we face today. The knowledge base needs to be accessed for each societal form and a coordinated effort is required to synthesize these for the common good. This paper is an attempt to present the relevant knowledge base from a particular perspective familiar to the author.
