- Abstract
Neoplasms of odontogenic origin with stromal and epithelial elements and tumors of oral epithelium are well known in domestic animals. The purpose of this article is to describe two oral tumours in sharks, a sand tiger shark Carcharias taurus and a blue shark Prionace glauca. The oral tumour from the first shark was submitted as a biopsy to the University of Maryland's Pathobiology Center in 1993 by a commercial aquarium. The tumour had been removed, under anaesthesia, from the gingiva posterior to the maxillary teeth.
