- Title
Von Lithium, Holz und Gas.
- Abstract
The article "From Lithium, Wood, and Gas" discusses various topics in the field of chemistry. Firstly, it discusses whether it is possible to produce lithium carbonate in Germany using geothermal energy. The team from the Institute of Applied Geosciences at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology has summarized the current state of research and evaluated various techniques. Another topic is the use of straw instead of wood as a raw material for textile fibers such as viscose or lyocell. The company J. Rettenmaier & Söhne and the University of Hamburg are working on this project, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture. Finally, the production of hydrogen and methane as urban gas is discussed. The Institute for Ecological Economic Research shows that these processes are environmentally and partially financially worthwhile. The project is supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection.
