- Abstract
The article "University internships - Cholesterol from the brain" describes the extraction of cholesterol from pig brains for internship experiments in chemistry studies. Cholesterol was first discovered by the French chemist Eugène Chevreul in gallstones and is also found in other natural substances. The authors of the article have discovered and tested a historical method for extracting cholesterol from the brain. The extracted cholesterol was examined using various analysis methods and can serve as a starting material for further experiments. The extraction is done using plaster and acetone.
