- Abstract
The article presents an account of the 17th-century voyage of the Dutch ship China, which was owned by the Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie (V0C), from Goeree, the Netherlands to Cape Town, South Africa. It focuses on the 28 passengers called the Vaudois, Huguenot refugees from France, and the hardships they experienced aboard the ship. A historical overview of the Vaudois families is given. Corrections on the actual size of the group and the number of deaths among its members are made.
