- Abstract
The article presents a summary of the article "This Month's Featured Country: Argentina." It reported that economic policies have brought economic stability to Argentina in recent years. The government has proposed significant new economic legislation to reduce costs and raise taxes. Unemployment rates are high, but the government is attempting to remedy this situation. The first social security laws were enacted in 1994 for individuals in commerce. Under the current law, a new pension system covering retirement, death arid disability was implemented. Employers can either participate in the state system or opt out and join the private system, having the contributions put into an individual capitalization accounts.
