- Title
Asset Allocation: Issues at Retirement.
- Authors
Ternoey, Brian C.
- Abstract
Although investment education has improved and advanced a great deal in the last ten years, many employees are still reluctant to confront asset allocation decisions. There are two events when a retirement plan participant must face asset allocation decisions, namely, at enrollment and at retirement. Most literature in the discipline of pensions and savings deals with this issue at enrollment and followup. This article focuses on this issue at the second event, which is retirement, that is, retirement asset allocation, with the primary goal of raising awareness rather than of presenting solutions. This discussion surrounds how retiring participants should allocate their account balances and the basic allocation parameters to consider.
