- Abstract
The article focuses on the works of the Protocol for Assessing Community Excellence in Environmental Health (PACE), a methodology developed by the U.S. National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO), in addressing the public health issues in Florida. It states that in Florida, the PACE has encouraged leadership skills among environmental health staff and enabled environmental health departments to engage with emerging sustainability and land use issues. It describes how the state Department of Health started supporting PACE programs for capturing various environmental health issues. It focuses on the case studies of the challenges and triumphs of the PACE in three counties in Florida including Escambia County, Palm Beach County and Marion County.
