- Abstract
In some contexts and cultures, the tenth wedding anniversary is known as the 'tin anniversary.' As we publish this first issue of the tenth volume of CJSoTL-RCACEA, then, we celebrate the beginning of what might be seen as our own tin anniversary year. While tin is not always looked on highly, it strikes me that some of its properties resonate interestingly with SoTL as a field, and with some of CJSoTL-RCACEA's commitments and goals specifically. Tin is both ductile and malleable; it can be stretched and re-formed without breaking. It is also commonly used within alloys, and thus could be seen to speak to the possibilities that arise when seemingly discrete entities are brought together and integrated. Although the metaphor is certainly imperfect and partial, these characteristics nevertheless echo our desire to make CJSoTL-RCACEA an inclusive, interdisciplinary space in which diverse groups of scholars are brought together and orthodoxies about teaching, learning, and scholarship are productively questioned in order to promote meaningful change and development.
