- Abstract
Alkali-activated aluminosilicate pastes were used for the immobilisation of lead(II) ions. The fly ash from the combustion of waste straw and wood as an aluminosilicate material, and a sodium silicate solution with silicate modulus Ms 1.56 or a slaked lime were used. Increasing amount of a lead(II) nitrate (5 to 30 % of the mass of fly ash) was added to the matrix of the fly ash - activator mixtures to simulate the stabilisation of a waste material. The compressive strength did not change with the increasing amount of a lead(II) nitrate but it was lower in comparison with the reference sample. Binder based on alkali-activated fly ash from high-temperature combustion and binder composed of straw ash, fly ash and calcium hydroxide were the most efficient for the immobilization lead(II) ions.
