- Abstract
Neither women nor conceptions of dress and the body were the same after World War I. What led Bogota's women, in such a difficult juncture, to make these changes? Starting out from this question, this article considers the representations of modernity that circulated in the illustrated press from 1920 to 1930, emphasizing the particular ways an illustrated elite, in its eagerness to establish a class barrier, assumed transformations in consumption habits, but not before they adapted the objects and images installed through this discourse to their traditions.
