- Abstract
Introduction: The Intensive Care Unit is the most complex level of the hierarchy of hospital services, it presents the need for organization and structuring of nursing care, to contribute positively to the quality of actions and patient safety. Objective: To identify the scientific evidence about nursing care to patients undergoing hemodialysis in the ICU. Methods: Integrative literature review, conducted from December 2019 to March 2020, in Lilacs databases via VHL and Pubmed. The final corpus had 11 productions, which answered the research question. Results: The results showed that nursing actively participates in renal replacement therapies, being responsible for the technical part and relationship of the patient with the environment, which evidences the importance of the nursing team in the face of complications, since detection and rapid intervention is an important differential in the therapy instituted. Conclusion: It was possible to note that the intensive care provided to critically ill patients is directly related to the nurse's duties, both about planning activities, as well as in decisions involving the patient, as well as, to the nursing team itself.
