Control of inflammation may be crucial to refractive cataract surgery success.
- Authors
Cimberle, Michela
- Abstract
The article discusses the control of inflammation following refractive cataract surgery. Eye specialist John D. Sheppard notes that successful outcomes of cataract procedures require ocular surface preparation prior to surgery and post-surgery inflammation control. Corticosteroids are cited as the gold standard of inflammation management and control following ocular procedures. Sheppard states that loteprednol etabonate has a high safety profile and can be used in long-term administration.
