- Title
Study: Combined anti-VEGF, PDT therapy for AMD not affected by treatment sequence.
- Authors
Loughery, Jessica
- Abstract
The article reports on a study which found that combined treatment of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) with bevacizumab and photodynamic therapy (PDT) is effective in improving vision regardless of treatment sequence. Doctor Joel Pearlman and colleagues examined 30 patients who were randomized to receive bevacizumab first, followed by PDT with veteporfin, or vice versa. They found that the combination therapy appeared safe and the order of treatment does not seem to affect the visual outcome.
