Vendor Says Quicken Has Backdoor.
- Abstract
The article reports that software company Intuit Inc. was accused by Russian password-recovery vendor Elcomsoft Co. Ltd. in June 207 of not divulging to customers that there is a backdoor to Intuit's popular personal finance program Quicken. Intuit countered Elcomsoft's accusation by citing that the unlocking of encrypted data from the Quicken program is used only by its support team to help users to recover their forgotten passwords. The issues' implications for computer security and the computer software industry are also cited.
