- Abstract
The comparative analysis of the recent geological-geophysical data on two fragments of the Late Mesozoic continental margin (Kyndal trough in Russia and Suibin trough in China) with consideration for the seismostratigraphic models and sedimentation history revealed their similar and different features. The main features reflect global events in the evolution of the East Asia margin. Both troughs are filled with thick coaliferous mostly terrigenous sediments promising with respect to hydrocarbon reserves. It is preliminarily inferred that the geological situation in the Kyndal trough was more favorable for preserving hydrocarbons as compared with that in the Suibin trough.
