- Abstract
The article explains that the U.S. National Park Service maintains national parks and historic sites that are significant to study the history of medicine. The Hot Springs, Arkansas-based Hot Springs National Park protects eight historic bathhouses. The hot springs water has been used for therapeutic purposes for more than two centuries. The Glen Echo, Maryland-based Clara Barton National Historic Site commemorates the life of the founder of the American Red Cross and had been the building from which Clara Barton coordinated disaster relief efforts.
