- Abstract
The article presents abstracts on various socio-political issues. One paper deals with research as a cognitive process - in contrast to research as a validating process - and explores implications of this view for the analysis of data. Two general principles of analysis are examined and are applied to the three essential phases of the research process. In the theory of two-person non-constant-sum games the Prisoner's Dilemma occupies a peculiar position because it contains an equilibrium solution which, however, is Pareto-suboptimal. These features characterize many social interaction settings, the most typical ones being situations where there is a built-in conflict between what is individually rational and what is socially desirable. An additional step toward the development of an inclusive model of voting behavior based on the facet theoretical approach is proposed. This note contains a priori evaluation of the voting power in the European Parliament according to contemporary seat quotas and according to the seat quotas.
