- Authors
del Olmo, Maria Concepción Marcos
- Abstract
This article analyzes the election and parliamentary trajectory of Jerónimo García Gallego, a canon from the Osma cathedral Cabildo, who represented the province of Segovia -- his hometown -- in the Constitutional Cortes of the Second Republic. The study explores the inherent diversity of confessional groups and shows that Garcia Gallego's stance was characterized by opposition to the secularizing legislation, defence of the republican regime and eagerness for independence, which evolved into open criticism of the positions held by "El Debate".
