- Abstract
The article discusses charitable giving in America and the reported systemic distortions that exist as a result of post-disaster relief incentives as of 2014, focusing on a historical overview of disaster relief in the U.S. and the roles of tax-exempt organizations in America. Charitable tax deductions and U.S. government aid for foreign disasters are addressed, along with the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency and services for victims of natural disasters such as Hurricane Katrina.
