- Abstract
Objectives: In psychology it has been proved that setting life goals is very important for physical and mental health. People who set goals do not only have a healthier development but also they achieve a sense of a meaningful life. There are many theoretical explanations which undertake life goals; positive psychotherapy is one of them. In positive psychotherapy approach goals are understood as resources for coping with conflicts. Besides, there is a need for a scale which can measure life goals of university students in means of positive psychotherapy. Thus, we investigated the psychometric properties of The Scale of Setting Life Goals with Respect To Positive Psychotherapy on university students. Method: A total of 183 individuals between ages 19-27 (112 female and 71 male) completed The Scale of Setting Life Goals with Respect To Positive Psychotherapy, Life Orientation Scale, and also Oxford Happiness Scale. Reliabilitiy analysis, confirmatory and explatory factor analysis are used for statistical evaluation. Results: All analysis show that psychometric properties of The Scale of Setting Life Goals with Respect to Positive Psychotherapy are valid and reliable for university students. Conclusion: The Scale of Setting Life Goals with Respect To Positive Psychotherapy is valid and reliable, and also can be used for university students. We concluded that The Scale of Setting Life Goals with Respect To Positive Psychotherapy is a useful tool for future studies.
