In this article, the author reflects on art in the early twenty-century. Particular focus is given to her criticisms of community art programs and of art that is solely reflective of artists' own lives and experiences. Several art practices of the twenty-first century are also profiled including participation, institutional critique and meta-art. The installation "Instant Coffee Light Bar," which took place in the Netherlands between 2009 and 2011 is also examined.
