- Abstract
The article discusses Reverend John Louis Petit (1801-1868), notable for his nineteenth-century writings and watercolors about church architecture in both Great Britain and on the Continent. A biographical sketch is presented which notes he was born into the English Staffordshire gentry, was educated at Eton and Cambridge University, took religious orders in 1826, and married in 1828. His watercolors were largely kept i his family's collection, along with works by other family members.
