- Abstract
The article presents a study to determine the prevalence of equine herpesvirus type 1 (EHV-1) nasal shedding and viraemia in a population of adult horses that had undergone long-distance transport. It involved 300 and two healthy adult horses imported from Europe. Findings showed that viral reactivation is thought to have occurred in these horses as a consequence of suppression of their immune response secondary to stress.
